Bridging the Worlds of Art and Research for Better Communities

Arts-Informed Research and interventions

Whether you’re an artist, a researcher, a care provider, or a community leader, we have everything you need to get acquainted with, and make the most out of arts-informed interventions and research.

practical tools

Are you interested in conducting an arts-informed study but don’t know exactly how?  Are you interested in using an arts-informed program in your organization?  No problem.  We can help you with that.

ideas and inspiration

Check out our featured case studies and blog posts to find ideas and inspiration to conduct your next study.  Find behind the scene interviews with researchers, participants, and experts on the subject.

community

A jazz musician, a neurologist, and the manager of a local senior citizens centre.  This is the kind of networking that facilitates any effort in arts-informed research.  You can find that here with us.

Instructor training program

The mere act of transferring technical instructions on how to make art does not garantee any health or wellbeing benefits to the person learning.  The instructor plays a big role in the impact achieved by the intervention.  In this intensive three-month course, we provide you with practical tools to become a proficient arts-based intervention instructor.

not all scars are easy to spot

Arts-based interventions provide a unique platform upon which your participants feel safe and empowered to share their experiences. Most of the time, without saying a word.

Sharpen your teaching skills and become a proficient arts-based intervention instructor.  Previous art experience not necessary.

choir practice

This month’s featured study is an arts-based intervention which was conducted in a paediatric oncology unit.  A choir was created with nurses, doctors, patients and their parents.  The study ended with the choir touring other units of the hospital during the holiday season.

What do you mean “it’s not relevant?!”

Statistically speaking, your research will only be read by a small number of academics, and an even smaller number of everyday-people outside of academia.

We can help you change that.  Our implementation team specializes in offering arts-based interventions to healthcare centres, community organizations, businesses, and anyone intrested in taking advantage of all the benefits proposed by arts-informed studies, such as yours.  By joining our team of researchers, artists, healthcare professionals, social workers, and community leaders, you’ll be directly sharing the fruits of your research labour with people in the real world.

Meaning-Making Through Pottery

This eight-week workshop will teach you how to incorporate the craft of pottery making into your arsenal of arts-based intervention skills.  Previous pottery experiency not necessary.
